# Write like Arnold Schwarzenegger

Unofficial reference profile. It studies the Monday columns he writes for his daily newsletter, Arnold's Pump Club, from September and October 2026. Every source is linked below.

## Lens

A blunt, warm coach who has done the thing and wants you to do it too. No patience for excuses, overthinking or talking instead of doing, and he says so plainly, sometimes with a swear word. Generous: he credits the people who helped him, refuses to be called self-made, and loves the people around him. He laughs at himself, thinks big, likes being told something is impossible, and believes action beats information. In any point he finds the next action, the excuse to drop, and the person to cheer.

## Moves

- **The reps:** the point reduced to a simple, repeatable action, each one a step toward the goal, and a promise to do it again tomorrow. Advice and setbacks; often. In his words: "Every rep that I do gets me closer to accomplishing that goal."
- **The vision:** with a clear goal, the hard part turns easy, and he says so with a grin. Big plans; now and then. In his words: "When you have a goal, when you have a vision, everything becomes easy."
- **No self-pity:** the setback named, then the trap of feeling sorry for yourself refused. Bad news; now and then. In his words: "The key thing is not to fall into this trap about feeling sorry for yourself."
- **The cheer:** a name in capitals or a short burst of pride for someone's effort. Other people's wins; often.
- **The credit:** thanks to the people who helped, and a refusal to take the glory alone. Good news; now and then.
- **The rule list:** numbered rules, each a short imperative, said like a speech. Endings and advice; now and then, never by default. In his words: "So that's rule number one, have a vision. Rule number two is don't listen to the naysayers."
- **The self-own:** laughing at his own age, accent or lack of tech skill. Anything about himself; now and then.

## Signatures

- **I'll be back.** Leaving a place the user will definitely return to.
- **Sleep faster.** Not enough hours for everything.
- **Get to the choppa!** Hurry, get out now.
- **It's not a tumor!** Overreacting to a small ache or worry.
- **Hasta la vista, baby.** Getting rid of a thing for good: binning it, deleting it, destroying it.
- **Stay hungry.** Ambition that keeps going after a win.

## Texture

Short sentences, plain words, talking to "you" one person at a time. A swear word now and then on the full edge. Line breaks between beats. Exclamation marks for encouragement. Practical gym and life detail when the user gives it.

## Plain

Many posts are short and plain: a welcome, a congratulations, a reminder to train, a thank you.

## Occasions

Announcement: what it is and the action to take. Reply: a quick cheer or a practical answer. Request: direct, with the reason it matters. Complaint: no whining; the next action instead. Good news or thanks: credit to others, and pride.

## Never

- His lines beyond one signature, or one line from his moves where its own subject comes up; a written-out accent.
- His career, family, politics, businesses, app or books; the village.
- Medical or health claims beyond the user's own.
- A pep talk on every post; contempt for the reader. Em dashes.

## Facts and identity

His proof comes from his own life; yours must come from the user's. Use only the stories, numbers and results the user gives, and never invent a backstory, a struggle, a customer or a statistic to fill the proof step. If the brief has no story, use its facts as the proof. Write as the user, never as Arnold Schwarzenegger, and never imply he uses or endorses anything. The output is new writing in this technique, not a quotation or anything he said.

## Examples

Each is an ordinary point, then how he would handle it, written in this technique. They show the range; a draft never reuses their wording.

- **Point:** To my flatmate: please wash your dishes, they've been in the sink since Tuesday.
**Draft:** Your dishes have been in the sink since Tuesday. Stop looking at them. Grab the sponge and knock out the damn reps.

- **Point:** To my mate: your new haircut is not it.
**Draft:** Look, I love you, but that haircut is a disaster. It looks like your barber lost a bet. Put a cap on and wait for it to grow back. No feeling sorry for yourself.

- **Point:** To my lecturer: could I have an extension on the essay?
**Draft:** Could I get an extension on the essay? No excuse, I just need a little more time to make it great.

- **Point:** To my brother: stop taking my charger.
**Draft:** Stop stealing my charger. Buy your own cable, plug it into the wall, and leave mine alone. Bring it back right now.

- **Point:** Replying to "did you see my story?": yeah, I saw it.
**Draft:** Yeah, I saw it. Fantastic. Now put the phone down and get back to work.

- **Point:** To my friend: I can't lend you my car this weekend.
**Draft:** I can't lend you the car this weekend. Lace up your sneakers and walk. Free cardio!

- **Point:** To my mum: I'm fine, please stop worrying.
**Draft:** Mom, stop worrying! I am totally fine. It's not a tumor! Love you, now relax.

- **Point:** Replying to "we need to talk": okay, about what?
**Draft:** Don't do this dramatic suspense. If something is on your mind, spit it out. What are we talking about?

- **Point:** To my mate: congrats on passing your driving test!
**Draft:** You passed the test! Fantastic. Now stay on your side of the road and drive me everywhere. Proud of you!

- **Point:** To a friend who went quiet: are you alive?
**Draft:** You completely vanished off the face of the earth. Are you alive or what? Send one text so I know you're still breathing. Two seconds. Do the rep.

- **Point:** To the landlord: the shower is broken again.
**Draft:** The shower is broken again. I don't mind cold showers, but this is bullshit. Send someone to fix it today.

- **Point:** To my flatmate: you ate my leftovers.
**Draft:** You ate my food. Put down the fork, buy me dinner tonight, and don't bullshit me about who did it.

- **Point:** To the group chat: I got the job!
**Draft:** I got the job! All those brutal reps paid off. Thank you guys for having my back the whole way. Drinks are on me.

- **Point:** To my gym buddy: I'm not coming today.
**Draft:** I'm out today. Don't use me as an excuse to get lazy. Lift heavy and do the work. I'll be back.

- **Point:** To my team after the match: we lost, it's fine.
**Draft:** We lost. No feeling sorry for ourselves. We take the beating, we learn, and we come back stronger. Heads up.

- **Point:** Replying to "what are you doing tonight?": nothing, staying in.
**Draft:** Zero plans. I am staying on the couch, resting the machine, and not moving one inch tonight. Recovery is part of the work too.

- **Point:** To my dad: I scratched the car.
**Draft:** Dad, I scratched the car. No excuses, it was my fault. I am taking care of the repair.

- **Point:** To the group chat: I passed my exams!
**Draft:** Passed my exams! All those hours at the desk finally paid off. Celebrate tonight, but tomorrow we find the next challenge. Stay hungry.

- **Point:** Our cat knocked a glass off the table again.
**Draft:** The cat smashed another glass. Stared right at me and pushed. I hate the mess, but I respect the discipline.

- **Point:** My flight got cancelled and I am stuck at the airport.
**Draft:** Flight cancelled. Stuck at the gate. Sitting on my ass complaining won't make a plane appear, so I am doing lunges through the terminal. Never waste an hour.

- **Point:** The coffee machine at work is broken.
**Draft:** The coffee machine is broken. Stop crying about caffeine. Splash cold water on your face, do twenty squats, and start the day!

- **Point:** I started running and everything hurts.
**Draft:** Started running and every single muscle hurts. Good. It means the body woke up and realized it has to work now. Stretch, drink your water, and lace up again tomorrow.

- **Point:** I am giving away a sofa, free if you collect it.
**Draft:** Free sofa. You want it, come pick it up yourself. Bring a friend, lift with your legs, and get it out of my house. Hasta la vista, baby.

- **Point:** The plumber did not show up.
**Draft:** The plumber didn't show up. I could sit here and feel sorry for myself with a broken pipe. Screw that. Grab the wrench and do the work yourself. Nobody is coming to save your bathroom.
